"Clique" quite possibly had three of the most monstrous verses of the past year. Kanye West's verse goes up in the rafters, after he just spits his stream of consciousness on the mic and lets everything go. Truly an incredible talent. Let's not forget about that beat either! Here at TNJ, "Clique" takes the award for best song of 2012. Who can beat that lineup? Coming second is Kendrick Lamar's chill track that reps his South Central Cali hood, "The Recipe." This one features Dr. Dre and has a heavy Dre influence in the production. Definitely one of the best of 2012. The third best song, according to TNJ, was A$AP Rocky's "Goldie," where he flaunts his coming from rags to riches in New York and representing all that is great about hard work and perseverance. So let him brag a little!
The year 2012 was a great year for hip-hop, and it would be an injustice to leave out the following songs as some of the best of 2012:
Nas - "Cherry Wine" feat. Amy Winehouse
T.I. - "Hello" feat. Cee-Lo
G.O.O.D. Music - "Mercy"
A$AP Rocky - "Fuckin' Problem" feat. 2 Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar
French Montana - "Pop That" feat. Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne, and Drake
Rick Ross - "Diced Pineapples" feat. Wale and Drake
As you can see, there were a lot of great songs in 2012, so these just highlight what a privilege it was to be a fan of hip-hop this year.
